"Don't start crying now," A pair of gentle eyes looked at the little boy who was clenching his fists.
His eyes were shining with tears as he glared at the ground and tried his hardest to hold back his tears.
Count Delimore heaved a sigh and rested his hand on his son's head as he asked, "Are you upset, son?"
A ten year old William sniffled, "No…" even his voice sounded hoarse with emotions.
The older one just wanted to hug his little one and comfort him. But before that,
"Son, there would come a time when you would fail to utilize something you take pride in."
William looked away, "It was just you."
Count Delimore chuckled, "No, son. You would meet plenty of those whose minds you would fail to read. Your strongest strategy against an enemy, to read their moves, might fail again in the future. At that time, child, I want you to remember this."
The father turned his son to look at him before adding, "Mind reading doesn't define Delimore William. It is a part of him. So never let your opponent get on your nerves just because you can't enter their head. Okay?"
….
That particular day flashed by his mind when William faced this being.
Although this golem was way weaker than his Father, somehow the emptiness in its head reminded him of the helplessness he felt back then.
But this time, he wasn't going to let it becomes his chains. He was going to show that Delimore William is so much more than that.
**DOOOOM**
The golem's fist crashed toward William's chest—only to be caught mid-strike. Threads of psychic force coiled around its wrist as William grinned.
"Don't back out now!"
In one swift motion, he twisted its arm and hurled the creature over his shoulder.
**DHAK!**
The golem slammed into the floor, bounced, and rolled—proof of just how much power William packed into that throw.
He jumped, body turning weightless for a split second before he came plummeting down with the force of a falling meteor.
But the golem wasn't slow—it rolled aside just in time.
**BOOOOM**
The floor split apart where William landed, cracks racing across the stone. Dust rose around him like a storm.
Turning his head, William smirked. "Already on the defensive?"
The golem didn't answer. Its chest rune flared instead, and a beam of blinding light burst out.
William's eyes widened. He shifted a step to the side—**WHOOSH**—the beam seared past his shoulder, leaving a burn mark.
"Woah, that's new."
From the sidelines, Gizel narrowed her eyes. She'd seen those beams before; without a barrier skill, most wouldn't last long against them—
"Oh," she muttered, watching him rush forward. "Or not."
"Come at me!" William roared, charging straight in.
Three more blasts screamed toward him. He didn't dodge this time—each beam bent away before touching him, ricocheting harmlessly into the walls.
"Psychokinetic shield…" one of the professors whispered, leaning forward. "He can move while using it?"
William closed the gap in an instant. His left hand shot forward—so did the golem's, ready to block.
But instead of punching, William slashed.
**SQUELCH**
A faint ripple cut through the air—and the golem's arm slid clean off.
Natalie blinked. "Woah… what just cut its arm?"
Kevin crossed his arms, frowning. "You didn't see him use that move in the dome?"
She looked away. "I… wasn't really conscious back then."
The golem stumbled back, not in fear but calculation. Cracks glowed along its shoulder as a new arm began to form, stone knitting back together like molten wax.
And this time, a massive mace hung from the golem's newly formed arm.
William's grin deepened. "Now that's impressive."
The ground split beneath the creature's feet as it lunged forward—**BOOM!**—breaking the sound barrier in an instant. In the blink of an eye, it was above him, mace descending like a hammer of judgment.
William's instincts flared. His telekinetic arm shot up, solid and unseen, blocking the incoming strike.
But he didn't expect the follow-up.
**DHAK!**
Another mace slammed into his back.
"Agh—!"
His body jolted, balance breaking for just a moment. That was all the golem needed. The chest rune on its body flared again—**ZRAAAK!**—and a yellow beam tore through the air.
This time, it hit.
**KRAAASH!**
The explosion sent William's smoking body hurtling across the field, crashing through broken stone and debris.
"NO!" Natalie screamed, ready to rush forward—
—but Emma's arm stopped her mid-step.
Natalie turned to her, eyes wide. "Are you for real right now?!"
Emma didn't answer. Her gaze never left the swirling smoke.
And then—
A low, amused chuckle rippled through the air.
William stepped out, smoke clinging to his skin like a shroud. His shoulder was scorched, shirt ripped open at the chest, the burn mark clear and deep—right where the beam had struck his core.
Despite the pain, his lips curled into a grin. "Heh…"
He tried brushing off the flames licking his chest, but they clung stubbornly to his skin. With a sharp tug, William slipped his fingers under the torn fabric and ripped away what was left of his shirt.
The flames died down, revealing a body sculpted by countless battles—his torso etched with scars and hardened muscle, the mark of a warrior who'd seen too many fights to count.
His gaze locked onto the golem's, sharp and unblinking. Then, his body rose—slowly, smoothly—until his feet no longer touched the ground.
"Now… he's serious," Gizel muttered, her voice trembling. Old memories clawed at the back of her mind.
**CRACK—**
The earth split open beneath him. Massive slabs of soil, stone, and grass tore free from the ground, hovering around William like a storm of mountains. His blood-red eyes gleamed with power as he looked down on the creature.
"You rely too much on your firepower," he said coldly. "Let's see if you can blast *this*."
With a flick of his hand, the two colossal chunks of land shot forward, slicing through the air like meteors.
The golem braced itself—legs wide, body lowering. Its chest flared with energy.
**SHRAAAAK!**
A blinding beam shredded through the first boulder, pulverizing it into dust.
**BOOOM!**
Another surge followed, the second beam burning through the next rock in an explosion of debris.
But as the smoke cloud billowed, the creature froze.
A figure burst through the haze—William, blazing through with raw speed, his fist already cocked back.
**DHAK!**
**BOOOOOOM!**
The impact cracked the golem's facial armor like glass. The force sent it flying downward, smashing into the ground hard enough to split it apart, fissures crawling in every direction.
The earth trembled under the blow—William hovered above, eyes glowing, the air around him warping with pressure.
"I-Is it over?" Natalie asked, her voice trembling
"It's over?" William asked, his voice containing clear annoyance.
But much to Natalie's dread and William's excitement, the Golem's whole body turned into a thick black batter before it reformed into its original state, standing again and facing William.
The blond one rubbed his hands, "That's the spark!"
The two of them exchanged a glare that could split stone. Then—
BOOM!
The ground cracked beneath William's feet as he launched forward, the air shuddering from the force. The Golem's eyes burned bright red, and a deep hum filled the air before a blinding beam shot out from its chest.
William raised his palm—his telekinesis flared. The beam curved, barely missing him, carving through the wall behind and reducing it to molten rubble.
The explosion threw up a storm of dust and smoke, but William didn't stop.
He thrust his hand forward. "Down!"
The invisible force slammed into the Golem, pressing it into the ground so hard the floor shattered like glass. Cracks raced across the stone as the metal creature struggled, its chest glowing once more.
William smirked. "Not bad."
The Golem released another beam—this time wider, hotter. William was blasted back, rolling across the ground. His shoulder burned, his arm bleeding, but his grin only widened.
He stretched out both hands, and debris around him—chunks of wall, shattered pillars, even steel fragments—rose into the air. "Let's see you handle this."
The pieces shot forward like bullets. The Golem raised its arms, blocking some, but several struck true, denting its chest and breaking off parts of its armor.
Before it could recover, William clenched his fist. The entire floor section beneath the Golem lifted into the air, twisting midair before he hurled it sideways.
The massive slab smashed through a building wall, sending waves of dust and fire outward.
Natalie, watching from a distance, covered her face from the heat and debris. "He's going to level the whole area!"
The Golem roared, its body reforming from the black tar-like matter again. Its chest split open, and a pulse of crimson energy gathered—far stronger than before.
William's eyes sharpened. The air trembled around him as he roared, "Don't stop just yet!"
