The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 327: Tolf Leader: Aria (2)

"This place is a facility to raise orphans who've been abandoned by their parents, by the world, by their country. Your mother, Lucy, helps fund part of this program since it is quite an expensive one,"

"I-I see…" I muttered, kind of shocked at how diverse this place was.

But then, suddenly, another pair of doors automatically opened, revealing two groups of five older teens who looked to be about eighteen to nineteen years old.

"These are some of the oldest ones who we've been growing for quite some time now."

Growing? What a weird way of putting it…

"They all… look like models?" I muttered as their aura was not only intimidating from their looks but the serious expression they constantly plastered all over their faces.

"Do you want to know what this place is used for? Why we grow these children?" Auntie Aria asked, letting go of my hand and slowly brushing my hair with her fingers.

"N-No," I stuttered as the woman suddenly got serious, and the two groups in front of us stopped right before her.

"It's to grow humans that will take influential spots within the world. Not only will being strong get you far, but being good-looking will get you even further. It sucks, but that's just how the world is no matter how much people try to deny it,"

I shivered under her cold words, and it's not like I would've done anything, but I still pitied these kids just a bit.

They were saved but then manipulated to be used as tools, but judging front the expressions, these teens can make… then I would assume they're already aware of that.

"We've finished the final mission. Three groups have been eradicated, but we have remained spotless as always," A boy with long black hair and pitch-black eyes announced a little bit arrogantly.

"That's within expectations. Now, go back to your rooms. You'll be released tomorrow into your new positions. The ones who've chosen to work on our technology have positions already prepared for them. Go get some rest,"

All ten of the late teens nodded before walking back to where they came from, and I still had so many questions.

"Umm? Where did they come from?" I asked as some of the ones towards the back had horrible wounds stretching across their torso.

"A dungeon as the final test. It's an S-ranked dungeon, and it seems we have some new big players within our organization… but I just want to see how long that loyalty will last upon seeing how free they could be."

Once again, her cold eyes made me shiver, and as she grasped my hand, I couldn't help but feel a patch of goosebumps erupt across my arm.

"S-So…" I muttered, slowly trailing off as we exited this room and re-entered back into the technical room, where people were constantly working on the missile. "What will my training be here? Sparring with those people?"

"Nope. You will be learning about technology. This was a request Lucy specifically asked for, so I can't just decline," Auntie Aria rolled her eyes before bringing me over to a free desk with various parts representing the inside of the missile.

"Woah… these are… magic stones?"

"Power stones, to be exact. Regular people can obtain the power to wield elements or a specific game-like element that can help them defend against the dungeons that appear all over the world."

"Wait, why do you need them for a missile?"

"We have to get mana from somewhere… so basically, by shooting a bunch of atoms at each other, an atomic explosion will occur."

"Atomic… explosion?" I asked, confused as hell with all of these big and foreign words.

"It's a large and powerful explosion… well, to say the least. Anyway, we keep that explosion in a metal box," Auntie Aria explained, then pointed to a large box in the center of the room, constantly glowing with white light. "This here contains it, and we toss in a few power stones, stir them up, and then voila, we have magical energy that we can transfer to the missile with a few bits of machinery, and then yada yada yada. You'll be learning more later, so just learn the basics…."

"Right now? No tour around the city?" I questioned, as that was the most exciting part of each trip.

My Aunts face widened a bit with surprise before she covered her chuckle with her hand and then landed her eyes right back on me.

"Unfortunately, that will not be possible here. We have way too many enemies here, and you can sort of call this a battlefield that we are currently on. Just strolling around the city is impossible,"

"Then how were we just walking out there?"

"Because nobody fucks with my cousin and me," Auntie Aria chuckled once again before cupping my left cheek and rubbing my pale soft skin with her thumb. "You're so naive that it makes me a bit jealous."

"I-I'm not naive!" I exclaimed while pushing away the hand that cupped my face, and as Auntie Aria neutralized me, a display of immense strength, she began to slowly stroke my hair once again.

"I'm just kidding… you're the strongest girl in the world," She muttered, and as I let out a little cheeky smile, Auntie Aria's soft expression suddenly dimmed, sending shivers down my spine. "Are you fucking kidding me…"

She groaned once before setting me down on the ground where I could stand with my own two feet and then turned towards the corner of the room where nobody was standing.

"It might just be my shadows…." I explained, but for some reason, I couldn't sense them in that corner, so some of them must've gotten stronger.

"Nah, those weaklings are useless when it comes to hiding in shadows… this is… ugh, what do you want?" Auntie groaned once more before taking my hand and pulling me to the next room over where Auntie Amanda was working personally with a few more nerdy technicians.

Huh? Who is that?
