The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 307: Tolf Leader: Clio (4)

My head jolted from her finger to my fist, surprised at how she could do that so effortlessly, as if it was a walk in the park.

"Little girl, your mother's flames are much stronger… you still have a long way to go," She chuckled before gesturing for me to follow her.

As she walked down the hall, I took one last angered glance at the butler before clicking my tongue and following her.

"Good girl," She muttered before ruffling my hair, leading me down the hall and into a storage room with the stench of blood.

"See… this is why you shouldn't worry about your insanely strong maids,"

Plastered out in front of me were the near-death bodies of the maids of this palace, bloody, beaten, and torn up.

"Allow me to apologize for showing you such a rude sight, my lady," The maid of death quickly walked over beside me and swiveled me around, and just as I went to turn my head to see more of it, she shielded my vision.

"I wanna see more. Those guys are assholes,"

"My lady, please do not say such crude words," She muttered and led me out of the room and only closing it behind me once Auntie also managed to make her way out.

"And you're not gonna apologize to me for beating up my servants?" Auntie smirked, and just as I was about to go tell her off, my maid covered my mouth and bowed her head.

"I apologize for the inconveniences I've laid upon your servants. I will be sure to pay for all of their bills… but make sure they know their place,"

Her cold words echoed through the hallway, causing Clio to burst out laughing since it seemed she was only joking, but my maid took it way too seriously.

Well, that's better than having everybody mad at each other and increasing the already tight tension within this palace.

"Alright, my adorable niece, it's time to have dinner. The sun is due to set in a few minutes, and by then, a feeling that you're all too familiar with will come crashing down…."

"Hm? Like what?"

"It's gonna be one hell of a cold night," She smiled and led me down the hallway while under the surveillance of my maids, who stuck close behind me. "You see, during the day, it is swelteringly hot, but at night, it's colder than a polar bears balls,"

"Umm… I didn't need to know that," I muttered before we turned the corner and found ourselves in an open room with pillars and massive gaps to create windows.

On the other side of such pillars were balconies that allowed you to look over the city, but most importantly, they allowed a breeze to come through.

"What's that?" I pointed out what seemed to be a stone couch lined with a thin layer of pillows at the end of the room.

But, it wasn't stuffed away in the corner but more idolized as some kind of throne that my mothers would sit on.

"That's my throne. It looks a bit different than either of your moms' thrones, and for a good reason. Since it's so hot all the time, I need to relax and lay down… I almost feel like an ancient queen each time I day do that," She laughed out loud before clapping her hands twice.

Suddenly, tons of servants flooded the room, building up a stone dining table and bringing out so many plates of food that they all nearly knocked each other off the table.

"Alright, that's enough. Bring the rest later if we ever need more," Auntie waved her hand, and soon some more free space was made at the table, allowing all of us to sit down on the stools placed along it.

It was just Auntie and me, but soon Uncle came and attempted to surprise his wife from behind, but she had already caught his hand attempting to poke the back of her neck.

"Did you miss me?" He chuckled and bent down to give Auntie a kiss on the cheek just before sitting down.

"Not really," Auntie rolled her eyes but then soon smiled as she saw him sit down next to me and fill my plate with tons of delicious food.

"This is good, and so is this… oh, you must have some of this as well. This is good too-"

"Honey, let her get what she wants first and then recommend some dishes. Try not to overwhelm her on the first day,"

"She's gonna need the energy for tomorrow, and if she's afraid to try all of this food, then she won't be able to make it through the training,"

"Oh, that's right. I came here for training… can you tell me what might be on the regime, or is that top secret and can only be shared with the trainers… oh, also, who is training me? Uncle?"

Uncle let out a long smile before ruffling my hair, forcing my maid to come back to me and brush my hair, so it was neat again.

But while she was doing that, I stuffed my face with food and listened to Auntie explain everything she could.

"First of all, you'll be going through intense training, as I'm sure you already know. You're mainly here to build up your resistance to heat but also increase your mobility. From what I've heard, you want to become a magic swordsman, right?"

I quickly nodded my head since my mouth was still stuffed with food.

"Young Miss, please slow down and wipe your mouth properly," My maid whispered before patting my mouth with a free napkin.

"That's a good choice but not optimal for losers… Since you're basically spreading yourself thin if you don't have the talent to excel in both the swordsman and mage aspect… so, are you a loser who will give up instantly?"

I quickly shook my head from side to side with a determined gaze.

"I see… well, heart is good but display that you won't disappoint me in training tomorrow. You have the best weapon specialist right next to you so if you ever need help, ask him,"
