The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 216: Tundra Snake Gladiator (9)

"A-AND IN A BRUTAL FINISH! THE TRAITOROUS WENCH WINS!!!"

But, just as I began to walk away, I heard another snap, and I just barely managed to dodge a massive spear of ice that tried to pierce through my head.

Red ice?! Didn't I just kill her?

I slowly turned around and what I saw made me sigh relentlessly.

The woman had stood up again with pieces of a jewel crumbling into dust within the center of her palm.

"OH! IT SEEMS THE FIGHT ISN'T FINISHED YET! ATTENDEES! PLEASE RETURN TO YOUR STATIONS; OTHERWISE, YOU MIGHT GET CAUGHT UP IN THIS FIGHT THAT IS SO VERY INTERESTING!"

The announcer began to hype up the crowd again, and the woman who stood with a bloody robe had been completely healed.

"I see… I heard rumors that you had such a stone… But I didn't think it was real… Who gave it to you?" I asked the woman before me.

"That is none of your fucking business," She replied in an annoyed tone as her body was probably screaming in pain from being resurrected from the dead.

Well, technically, it's not really resurrection but more like an instant heal that closes and fixes all wounds besides chopped-off limbs.

The name of the stone is Philosophers Jewel. It's something in the same family as the philosopher's stone, but their uses are completely different.

One transforms base metals into precious materials, while one transforms a broken body into a healthy one.

Though, it is also known for granting an insanely strong body after the regeneration, meaning she is much stronger than before.

That would be a problem if she was a close combatant, but all she does is use magic pathetically from a distance without even trying to strategize.

A mage who just overwhelms their opponent can't be called a mage, and I won't accept such a stupid idea.

"I want to know… How did a gladiator slave manage to acquire such a stone?" I asked her once again, but she didn't reply.

Wait, did it also replenish all her mana? Shit… That's actually bad.

"Allow me to actually try now," The woman muttered, and I didn't believe her words one bit as she clearly used her trump card twice before.

All of a sudden, she stomped onto the ground, leaving a pitiful shoe mark, but the explosion of a vein of red ice that charged straight towards me almost killed me.

The speed was so fast that I could barely keep up with it with my own eyes.

"That is… quite bad," I muttered before breaking the ice with my sword and then charging towards her, trying to close the distance again.

But, this time, she wasn't about to let me get any closer as now she knew the danger of my power.

It's not like she underestimated it from the beginning but just got caught off guard as she thought she could kill me in one hit.

And once again, that is not underestimating because she literally could if it wasn't for me identifying the density and construction of her ice.

As the ice is constantly burning, it is much softer than regular ice, meaning it is easier to break down and destroy.

FWOOSH FWOOSH FWOOSH FWOOSH

I just barely managed to dodge another wave of blasts of ice, and just as I thought I was in the clear, a hail of spears made from red ice crashed down on me.

They weren't all that powerful, but the deepest wound was probably an inch or two which was going to kill me if I wasn't careful.

"HUFF… HUFF… HUFF… [Glacier Wall]... [Gravity Press],"

A massive glacier appeared in the sky, and I accelerated the fall by increasing the gravity pressing down onto it… though once again, it was shattered into pieces.

These broken pieces then fell at such a speed that when they collided, a cloud of dust picked up instead of a cloud of ice.

I maneuvered through this cloud that shielded me from the woman's vision as her senses were nowhere near as good as a trained warrior.

SHING

I sliced downwards once again while also using [Gravity Press], breaking the ice underneath her robe, and just as she was about to dash back, I used [Gravity Press] on her.

She tripped on her own feet as the weighted feeling continued to press on her body without mercy.

I've learned that the gravity from this skill reacts mostly with the user, and the stronger the user and the more proficient they are in magic, the harder your press can be.

For me, I can quadruple the gravity around us, while the person who I had acquired the bracelet from could only double the gravity.

That was still really good, but nowhere near as good as mine… fufufufu.

SHING

This time, I created a large laceration across her chest, and she screamed out in pain as a blast of red ice erupted from her body.

I was sent flying back and noticed hundreds of small holes decorated my entire body.

"Shit…" I muttered before pulling out the previous spears and letting my body completely regenerate.

Fortunately, none of my vitals had been hit, so I was safe from death for now, but the regeneration process was going to take a while.

"Have you thought over my offer?" I asked the woman as she huffed and puffed while letting the deep wound try and regenerate.

It's useless… I already punctured your lung… Just give up.

The woman, who had been humbled by death, slowly mulled over the idea that I presented to her and slowly set away her enormous pride.

And she made a smart move as she gave me a slight nod while also already knowing how we could end this with both of us alive.

We charged straight toward each other, something completely out of the woman's character, and she gathered a ball of ice within her hand.

Meanwhile, I held my sword with both hands while she created an armor made of ice, completely replicating the appearance of my own armor.

Good… Seems we do have a connection.

SHING BAM

Her ball of ice exploded into a set of icy veins that knocked me unconscious by slamming against my helmet.

On the other hand, I did my strongest horizontal swing and put my entire body into it as I was already expecting to get knocked out.

My sword collided with her helmet, also knocking her unconscious, but I think mine might've done more damage, so she probably won't wake up for another day or so.

And just as my consciousness began to slip in between my fingers like a liquid, I saw the woman smile gently.

"*gasp*... HUFF… HUFF… HUFF…"

I glanced around the infirmary I was in and saw tons of massive guards guardian each square inch of this place.

I noticed tons of recognizable fighters, and the one I was most happy to see was the woman I had just previously fought.

To be honest, I was half expecting her to get killed as I didn't know if the colosseum wanted a definite winner, but I guess that just isn't true.

Since the woman was right next to me, though unconscious, I poked her cheeks a bit in order to try and wake her up.

"Hey~ wake up. Wake up," I said as I tried to shake her awake, and eventually, a guard came to try and stop me.

"Stop touching the others patients unless you want to get your fingers lobbed off," The man said in an authoritative tone.

He grabbed my fingers and bent them back slightly in order to try and threaten me, but I just gave him a dose of my bloodlust.

After feeling my overwhelming pressure, his face paled, and another guard came to take him away.

"Dude… That's one of the top 15. You're lucky she didn't kill you right there," The man whispered, and I felt a bit proud of myself despite me still being a slave.

As I tried to put up the middle finger with my other arm, a jolt of pain washed through my body, and when I looked down, I saw a cast completely coated my arm.
