The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 198: Trial: Vampire God (2)

My senses felt as if they were intertwining with Nell behind the wall, and I could feel her pain, anger, and sadness.

I knew it… This bastard has been lying to me the entire time.

"Hive," I said with full confidence, and the vampire's eyes widened for a split second.

"Interesting,"

"So, am I right?" I asked, and the vampire chuckled a bit to himself before nodding his head gently, and I couldn't suppress the exasperated sigh that came out of my mouth.

I knew it. He was lying the entire time. He tried to manipulate my mind by telling all of those lies in the beginning and then proceeding to confuse me by changing up the wording mid-question, which was strange.

But, the thing is, the actual answer, like a great test, lay in the actual question, and now that I look back on it, I can't help but groan in annoyance.

He continuously said the phrase, "see it from a different perspective," which I thought nothing of until it just clicked in my mind as if puzzle pieces had just fallen into place.

He continuously lied to me, so when he said that the hivemind had turned off, I began to believe it wasn't, but then he reversed physiologies me because I ended up thinking that he was telling the truth this time.

I mean, in retrospect, it was pretty easy to see that he did turn it off because that would just make the trial pointless, but when you think about it like that, shit just gets messed up in your head, and you begin to question yourself.

It was almost like I was talking to Lucy for a few minutes.

"Congratulations. You passed the first trial," The vampire said, and I froze for a second and then turned towards him.

The bindings around me had also fallen off as I turned.

"First… trial? Are you telling me there are more trials? Can I decline it?" I asked, and the vampire, for the first time since coming here, stood up from his chair.

As he twirled the glass of blood in his hand, he snapped his fingers once more, and the wall beside me opened up, revealing Nell, who looked like she was about to die.

"Nell!" I shouted as I ran over to her as she limped towards me from a stone dungeon that looked to have been shrouded in darkness.

This bastard…

I gave the vampire a hard glare before helping her to the chair I was originally sitting on, and she immediately slumped down, exhausted, and about to pass out.

"Bring me some water or a healer. She's about to die!" I shouted, and surprisingly, the vampire snapped his fingers and allowed a glass of water to appear in my hand.

Nell had also been completely healed by bright red lights, which strangely floated above me and then entered Nell's chest.

She gasped for air as soon as she felt the relieving feeling enter her body, and I saw her huff and puff with all her might. I almost cried.

"You're too soft," The vampire said as he leaned on his desk and sipped the glass of blood which looked silky as it entered his mouth.

I just about managed to suppress my drool and glare at him once again.

"Geez… such a simple mind," He muttered before snapping his fingers and a glass of blood appeared in my hand.

"I'm not simple-minded and I'm not soft," I said as I threw the glass onto the floor, causing a shattering sound to ring throughout the air.

"*sigh*... Alright, let's move onto the next test," He said before clapping his hands and all of a sudden, a vampire walked through a black portal into this room.

The room then suddnelt shifted into a massive arena with a red moon and night sky which loomed over us as we stared each other down.

"Astra… We should just give up," Nell suggested but I didn't want her suffering to go to waste.

"I don't even know what this test is for, but if you so suffered so much, I won't let any of it go to waste," I said before stepping up into the middle of the arena and the simple looking vampire just stared ominously as we waited for the other vampires signal to start fighting.

"There are no rules. Use any skills you want. Harm your opponent, torture your opponent, or even kill your opponent if you want. It is not a must, but a want, so no need to choose carefully and just select,"

We both nodded after seeing he had finished explaining the rules and in a series of claps, everything in the arena had disappeared, including Nell.

I was about to shout at him once again, but he just pointed towards the stands where I saw Nell completely passed out.

After breathing a sigh of relief, I turned towards the vampire once again and he cotninued to stare me down ominously.

His eyes were cold but they didn't even look like they had any life behind them.

"Ah, you're a dhampir, aren't you?" I muttered with a smile and the man didn't react as the vampire god was no announcing the beginning of the match.

"First round… START!" He shouted so loud that the arena shook and I felt the bones in my body vibrate within my skin.

But, I had no time to think about that as the dhapmir before me was now charging straight towards me, rather slowly though.

As this was most likely a warm up round, I decided to start off with one of my usual weapons, but not my secretly proficeint wepaon.

Revealing all my cards now would be pretty stupid as I'm sure all the vampires coming after this one will most likely be under the vampire gods control.

I don't know what they're doing now, but its apparent that they might be watching me through the vampire gods eyes.

"Alrighty," I muttered before summing two long daggers that I clanked together to make sure I didn't miss any spots as I filled in the frame with my own blood.

And, nothing spilled so I deflected the dhampirs attack which was a strike with its long nails, aimed directly at me.

Sparks flew in the air as our weapons both collided, but due to me being a greater dhampir… and with a few draconic attributes, I pushed the man back with ease.

His lifeless eyes continued to stare at me as his body suddenly contorted and his arm came down onto my shoulder like a whip.

He had dislocated his own joins to try and break my shoulder, but this was just a free attack… but as it was a warm up, I decided to block it.

The vampire god beside me looked a bit impressed at how I was able to block the whip the curled around the blades, but instead of letting the man retreat, I sliced off the whip like arm.

I heard a low growl come from it, almost like something you'd hear from a wild beast getting backed into a corner.

Grrrrr

It continued to growl as it slowly walked around me, trying to find an opening so I revealed some and due to its absolute stupidity, it fell for the bait.

As I had felt that I warmed up enough, I just decided to end the match.

[Blood Curse]

To the dhampirs and vampire gods surpirse, the lower being was able to land a hit on my arm and due to the stench of blood wafting through the air, it gave into its animal like instincts.

It latched onto my arm, but my blood which was covered in large runes sank its curse deep inside its body and began to slowly eat the dhampir from the inside out.

It screamed in pain as it clawed at its own face, tearing chunks of flesh off of its head, a strangely amusing sight.

And, after only a few more seconds, it dropped to the ground, bursting into a pile of blood red flames with the dhampir no where to be seen.

"Congratulations on passing the first round. You get a break for the rest of the day but if you want, we can continue in one hour. Your choice," The vampire god suggested and I just shrugged.

"We'll do it in an hour," I muttered as I was confident I could take down a greater dhampir with ease.

I may be the same race, but my armory of skills and variant skills will make quick work of them… I mean, my own flame does triple the damage against vampires or any of its kin.

"Nell, wake up," I said, shaking my sister awake and she cutely wiped her eyes as she glanced around, trying to figure out where we were.

"Where… Where are we?" She asked and I gave her a quick reply before hugging her tightly.

"In an arena for the next trial, but don't worry, I'll make quick work of the opponents so we can go back," I said while wrapping my arms around her.

"H-Hey, do this with Sophia or something," Nell stuttered, slightly embarrassed.
